Shoe Addicts beta testing: first 24 hours

Last 24 hours have been quite interesting for @Shoe_Addicts team! After four months of hard work, we finally launched beta version of our app :) And there are initial numbers:

USERS: 25
PHOTOS: 60
COMMENTS: 113
HEEL UP: 307

60 photos on 25 users - pretty good if you ask us!

Shoe Talks are also very active and there you can see an overview od the most popular topics. Top three ‘Trendings’ are #converse, #red & #white, as we expected. After all, app is tested by our dear geeks :)

Beta testers are having fun posting photos of their favorite shoes in situation so we selected a few of our favorites.

But this is just the beginning. There’s still a lot of work that’s waiting for us… We need to fix some minor bugs, integrate filters and border so we hope that Shoe Addicts will be available in App Store very soon!

Hi, everyone :)

Last weekend was quite exciting! Saturday was sunny and warm so we filmed promo video for Shoe Addicts with professional help of our dear @igzzie who is a master of shooting & editing. Beautiful @doruhh was main model and she was realy stunning, can’t wait to see her on screen! A big thanks to @ineskich, Neven and Marta, as well :)

How we created our icon?

After weeks of thinking, drawing, consultation and deliberation, our new icon for the application is finally over! It was created by our designer @markoprljic and the whole @Shoe_Addicts team is thrilled.

In the beginning we wanted to have an icon that will display shoes, but it proved to be very impractical. Due to its specific shape, shoes don’t fit well in a cubic box with rounded edges that is prescribed by Apple’s standards. Moreover, there have been some major problems - which model of shoes should we choose? High heels, flats, boots, flip flops…? We didn’t want the shoes on the icon to be too trendy, or that for a year are no longer interesting. We didn’t wanted some predictable colors, like red or pink, as well.

Finally, we conclude that image of the shoes is simply too generic and that it’s something we all expect to see on app about shoes. We are still puzzled…

Another idea was that the icon shows a shoe with a big bow, but viewed from above. When Marko put it on ‘paper’, this simply didn’t look good and we were afraid that users will not at first recognize what is in the picture.

And it is extremely important to us - to create a distinctive identity that will appeal to customers and that they will at first make it clear that this application is truly unique and eye pleasing. Considering that the application is called Shoe Addicts and that is intended for users who really love to wear their shoes, Marko decided to show real - Shoe Addict.

Don’t worry, it wasn’t painless. We talked about whether to put a background and in which color (remember, because of Apple’s standard cubic). The first version was with a brown background, but aesthetically it didn’t look good on different screens. After a few days we decided to use a white background with soft creamy brown border.

What else can we say? We fell in love at first sight with our Shoe Addict!
